PROGRAM ORGANIZATION
The center is organized such that when any of our clients has successfully completed
training and is deemed ready for job placement by the InterDisciplinary Team (IDT),
the Program Director will initiate a search for suitable employment for the individual.
Vocational Evaluation
The center provides vocational evaluation and assessment of each client's abilities and potentials.
An evaluation may consist of the following:
- Vocational interest and aptitude assessment;
Academic and achievement tests;
Dexterity and physical endurance levels and;
Work behavior and attitude.
The center also evaluates each client's appropriate and
inappropriate social and behavioral functioning levels in order to enable program staff make
adjustments in the client's training program. The job adjustment training program is designed
to provide a realistic and flexible work environment for clients. The length of the training
program depends on the capacity of the individual to master the subjects taught. Those who
have difficulties adjusting to the higher level of vocational training may continue to
receive services under a sheltered setting.
Job Training Program
Job training is provided to prepare the client for a job
search. The training program has various components some of which are listed below.
Job Application Training
The Job Application Training is designed to assist and/or train
the client in the skills necessary to accurately complete job applications.
Interviewing Skills Training
The Job Interviewing Skills Training is designed to assist and/or
train the client in the skills and techniques necessary to succeed in job interviews.
Job Seeking Skills Training
This service component is designed to assist the client in developing the
skills necessary to conduct a job search.
Resume Development Training
Resume development training is designed to assist the client
in developing a complete job resume.
Vocational Adjustment Training
Vocational adjustment training is designed to increase an
individual's basic interpersonal skills and attitudes necessary to participate in job search,
and to retain gainful employment. Vocational adjustment training can be provided one-on-one
or in a group setting, as determined by the staff trainer.
Job Coaching
Job coaching is designed to provide one-on-one on-site
training for those clients needing assistance in adjusting to employment, and instructions
in learning the skills necessary to perform their jobs successfully.
Job placement Training
Job placement training is initiated when a client needs assistance
in finding a competitive employment in the private or public sector.
Behavior Modification Training
Based on the client's personal needs, behavior modification training
is designed to reward positive behaviors and to modify maladaptive or problem behaviors and to
replace them with behaviors that are socially acceptable.
Supported Employment Training
Supported employment training provides competitive work in an
integrated work setting, with on-going support services for individuals with disabilities.
